From our customer care programs and project management, to working with the finest architects and interior design professionals, we’re on the job.
Construction and Project Manager — Greg Kemp
Greg has been our new homes and remodel construction and project manager since November, 2006. Greg handles the construction operations for all of our new home and remodeling projects, as well as taking a supporting role in our customer care programs.
In Greg’s own words…
"My role with Durrett Interests is to manage the day-to-day interactions related to new homes and remodel jobs. When challenges arise, I thrive at finding the solution that is in the best interests of all parties. The thing I like best about working for Durrett Interests is the family type atmosphere. If there’s one thing, in my opinion, a potential client should know about Durrett Interests, it is this: We build unique homes of the highest quality."
Customer Care and Purchasing Manager - Andrew Halton
Andrew has been our Customer Care and Purchasing Manager since January, 2005. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Andrew entered the construction business after graduating from Texas Tech University with his business management degree. Andrew handles estimating, purchasing, and customer care services, as well as assisting Marshall in setting up systems and procedures for our company’s operations.
In Andrew’s own words…
"My role at Durrett Interests started as a college intern, which then led to an assistant project manager position working in the field. I have since moved into the office almost full-time as customer care manager and purchasing manager. Being a 3rd generation Austinite and 7th generation Texan, I take great pride in my town and state, so being able to build beautiful homes that will be here for another 3 generations makes me feel like I am making my family and community proud. But, it’s not just about building homes, it’s building homes with a company that is also doing the right thing socially and environmentally. When I drive by houses we have built, it isn’t only the house that I remember. But, it’s the people and families that were involved, and those memories last much longer."
Special Project Manager - Chris Carty
Chris has been our Special Project Manager since May, 2007. Born in New Jersey, Chris moved to Dallas to begin 5th grade. Chris did his undergraduate work at The University of Texas and earned his degree in Russian and East European studies. Later, Chris received his master’s degree in the same field at George Washington University. After spending time in Moscow and Siberia, pursing the idea of becoming a diplomat, Chris spent 2 1/2 years working with an American commercial construction company in Russia. Returning to Dallas, Chris joined a major homebuilder as their project manager. Eventually Chris came back to Austin to work with D.R. Horton, Inc., as assistant superintendent, lead superintendent, and project estimator before joining our team. Chris carries designations from the National Association of Home Builders as a Certified Graduate Builder, and Graduate Master Builder.

"As the project manager for special projects, I appreciate working within a small group for such an innovative, high-end builder. At Durrett Interests, the focus is continually and clearly on quality construction. I value having direct input, and working closely with Marshall, on the interesting projects that we undertake. Each customer we work with can expect to deal with a company that has a high level of experience, is innovative, and is well-respected in the building industry by our customers, our peers and our subcontractors."
Internal Operations Manager and Bookkeeper - Chelle Thomas
Chelle has been our office manager and bookkeeper since joining us in November, 2006. Chelle handles office administration and bookkeeping for all of our new home and remodel projects, as well as providing support for our customer care programs.
In Chelle’s own words…
"As an office manager and bookkeeper, I can’t imagine working any place better. My favorite part of working at Durrett Interests is, undoubtedly, getting to work with Marshall. I first met Marshall and worked with him at Toll Brothers. When he left to start his own company, we always said that I would go work with him again some day. Then, in late summer 2006, I was ecstatic when he offered me a position. Marshall has an excellent work ethic, builds a great product, and is a superior boss. Furthermore, Marshall’s approach is contagious — everyone here takes great pride in their work."
